On May 25-26 members of Business Women’s association participated in the thirst Asia-European Meeting ASEM) on “Women’s economic empowerment: equal opportunities in the world”. The conference was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with the Social Security and Labor and the Ministry of Mykolas Romeris University.
Patron of the Conference was Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite. The event partners – the European Institute for Gender Equality and the Business Women’s Association. In the conference it was discussed on gender equality, women’s economic empowerment, economic situation of women in different countries, and exchanged experience and how to improve conditions for women to achieve economic equality. This was one of the largest such a level conference ever held in Lithuania. The conference was attended by many famous and interesting women – politics, business and education leaders – from all over the world (Singapore, India, Malta, Switzerland, the Philippines, Japan, Portugal, Poland and so on.), such as Lakshmi Puri, Mari Kiviniemi, Madi Sharma, and others. Business Women’s Association Board Chairman Dalia Foigt Norvaišienė-moderated conference session for women’s entrepreneurship. BWA invited representatives of several countries to the lunch at “Rib room” restaurant. It was a unique possibility to socialize closer with women from Vietnam, Thailand, Switzerland, Latvia, Britain, the Philippines, Japan, as well as the Asia Europe Foundation representative in Singapore. It was established many useful contacts with women’s organizations in different countries.
